Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, a domestic worker. Her upbringing was within a household with four other brothers. When she was a kid, Delaney dreamed of becoming a court reporter. Her modeling career began in highschool and eventually gained commercials when she moved to New York. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teenager in the film All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. Personally, her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. The talented actress has had to deal with alcoholism throughout her life as well as two divorces. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her only son.
